i think that shylock was just being selfish through out the book, all he cared about was his money,when his daughter ran off with his money and a christian (lorenzo) he was worried about his money in the speach where he found out she was gone what did he say my duckets, my duckets, my duckets. in the spech (hath not a jew eyes)
i think he was just being selfish again, he was just trying to convence people that he was right that he should get his bond, i dont thing he really wanted his money though i think he was just trying to get his bond because he hated antanio.
