othello's dignity restoration is in greek tragedy referred to as catharsis, or self realisation. othello undergoes a cathartic reaction after he has killed desdemona and learns the truth from emilia <-? and realises the sinfulness and immorality of his actions. the catharsis (love that term) does in a sense restore dignity in that he is not ignorant to his doings.
