A long, long time ago, people insisted that electromagnetism was to be reckoned as electricity and magnetism. That's how the count got up to be five.
Most people believe that this whole quantum mechanics deal is pretty ing new, but no it isn't. In fact, we've had a complete description of the standard model (including the four forces) since Biblical times.
