In the Blistering Heat
I opened the window in the corner of my room
I felt a cold brush of wind ing against me
I shivered and felt a sudden dark gloom
Burning coals suddenly were filled with gleam
Soon I cried and soon I shouted
For I was trapped and I felt blind
For I was alone yet I felt so crowded
And I dwindled with my house so delicate and refined
I felt hotter than the blistering sun
Yet weaker than a delicate thread
I realized my life will soon be done
And I fell suddenly to my bed
