"This Is Why"

Just another day in the cycle of life,
off to work, you kiss your wife.
A hug to the kids is your last good-bye,
not knowing that soon you're going to die.
Stuck in traffic it's just routine,
a horror is coming like you've never seen.
Arriving to work you park your car,
Your death is coming its not too far.
Hello to your friends as you p them by,
again not knowing that soon you'll die.
Arriving to the lobby hold the door,
You need to get to the 86th floor.
Up and up the elevator bolts,
soon it stops with 2 huge jolts.
You look at others with fear in their eyes,
the noise you hear are shrieking cries.
The elevator stops the lights go out,
Thoughts of your family, you start to shout.
God in heaven what's going on?
The quickness of life it's already gone.
You have left this earth with a blink of an eye,
This is the way you had to die.
Not a clue or a chance taken by surprise,
This is not supposed to be how someone dies.
Your life was taken without any pain,
your life was taken but not in vain.
You are a hero, the lucky few,
oh so lucky, but what did you do?
You died for freedom you died for a cause,
you died for America and its laws.
You died to make a new world, safe from harm,
just like yours, under Gods arm.
You now walk the paths knowing no fear,
ironic we seek that feeling down here.

My Flight Home

Its another day bright and clear,
Time to go home, away from here.
I had a good trip and I'd like to stay,
but now it's time I went away.

Arriving to the airport I'm right on time,
I check in my baggage and get in line.
After check-in its time to bored,
soon I'll be sitting with The Lord.

I go through security all is OK,
soon I'll be on my way.
Have a nice flight welcome aboard,
I make sure my carry-ons are securely stored.

A man across from me has a strange look,
I think nothing of it and grab my book.
Soon we're off and in the sky,
who is that man with the look in his eye?

A few minutes go past and I hear a voice,
This is the captain, "I have no choice"
Our flight is hijacked and they have some demands,
I must obey all their commands.

My heart sinks and I pray for my life,
All I can think of is my kids and my wife.
I turn to my left and what do I see?
That man with the evil look, staring at me.

He says "Stay in your seat and don't be scared,"
your death is coming so be prepared.
I pray to God this cant be true,
give my guidance as what I should do.

I call my wife to let her know,
I love her so much and I have to go.
She tells me the same and tells me the news.
I must do something to help the crew.

With 2 others we rush the pit door,
and throw the bastards on the floor.
A struggle ensues and we kill them all,
the plane is spinning and in a stall.

Nobody can fly, but it's all right,
there is peace and calm, I see a light.
I follow the light and see a man,
He says," welcome home give me your hand."

I take his hand and he walks me around,
"you have saved so many look on the ground."
I looked way down and was amazed to see,
an empty field and the remains of me.

"You've lost your body and this is your soul,
I picked it up from the fiery hole."
I looked back at him and started to cry,
"Thank you God for letting me die."
