I too, feel that the interuptation is that this world moves far faster for us when we are older, and that we need to step back,
take a look, and than we have to get back to the business of
our lives. Tonight, it is snowing, It is after one in the morning,
I glanced out, and just stood there and watched our county landscape, and woods being covered even with more snow. It is dark, and the pond is frozen, but, I still have dishes that need to be done,
from our late company leaving. No intention of suicide, or death. The woods are deep, and I wonder how the deer, squirrels and the other natural habitats are doing out there tonight. But, I have to shake myself back to finishing task before I can rest and sleep. (I hate to wake up to dirty dishes) So, I gathered myself and thoughts to the sink and did what I needed to do. I remember this reading,
across your post. I loved this one than, and I appreciate it much more today... Especially since our woods are filling up with snow, and the little barn seems so far away, (at least on a night like this) That between here and there the pond is frozen, it is beautiful, and the wind is making it gusty and cold...If I were that little horse, I don't know if I would have stood there, I would love to get to where I am going and rest...
Likewise, he that drove his buggy..once reality set in, and he had miles to go, before either of them could rest....
No, he never wanted to commit suicide, he wanted to kick back,
enjoy his surrounding, and than he had to move on to finish his task before he could rest. I hope that you can sit down and talk with whom ever gave you that idea...because, nature is beautiful,
we take it for granted, we do not enjoy the moment, and we move to fast today..Maybe, it was a time for him to reflect on his life, or maybe it was for him to just sit there to enjoy, or maybe it was to get his mind together, and face that there was much more he had to do, and a rest was in order, and he would sit there in the New Englan forest, and relish the moment. Thanks, for letting me post my feelings. I really love this poem, and it
has been deep in my heart...lifes struggles always seemed easier once I stepped back and enjoyed a few minutes of reflection..probably similar to Robert Frost, best known poem...
Now, my daily journey has ended, and the miles of things to do,
are done, now I can rest...Have a good evening. NIght! Night!
