The meaning I find in this poem is similar, but very different, too. The desire for peace and rest is withinall of us. Nature gives us momentary respite, and paradise awaits eternally for each of us. However, we have our life's missions to complete (promises to keep) and when it is not ones's time to leave this place ...one must go on. I've been teaching for many years and often present this poem to my students. The beauty of poetry is that is remains indefinable. Each reader will respond in their own way. Certain images provoke different feelings for each of us. I think when we interpret through reason, we lose its beauty.
