Here's an idea. There seem to be a lot uf us who have submitted at least one poem to these people.
Some of us were lucky enough not to send money, but most of us did not gaini anything material.
On the other hand, I can honestly say the poetry.com listing was not a complete waste of time. I have had a few people ask about my writing and sent them to look there at the couple of poems I submitted. Free display of work I was not going to make anything out of anyway.
On the other hand, considering the number of disappointed people in this discussion, why not get together as a group, collate an anthology and price the production, then look into publishing something collectively through a proper publishing house?
If something can be arrranged with a "real" publisher, everyone can share the cost and publish a decent book with people submitting more than one poem each. Perhaps the costs can be divided on a per page, per person basis.
It would not be quite as simple as it sounds, someone would have quite a lot of work to do - but it just might work.
