One major difference between the American Revolution and the French Revolution was the proximity of the aristocracy. America was simply a state rebelling, not and entire nation. It was just as bloody perhaps, but we didn't touch the aristocracy.
The revolutions, as in all revolutions, are a natural course of events. To the people involved they seem barbaric but they are a necessity. Nothing of lasting duration on this planet has been accomplished without rebellion and revolution either against the light or the darkness.
