In researching the biography of Bethius, i encountered the rather obscure fact that Boethius had several kind of rituals for overcoming problems during his translation work of Aristotle. The three rituals he practiced most frequently were animalsacrifices, phlebotomy (blood-letting)and violant ual s.
Can anyone tell me more about the rather dubious remarks of this biographer (latin, anonymous, 600AD)?
