Hi...
I'm a student at a Swiss school and for my termpaper I decided to write a paper with the title "The World through the Eye of the Photographer". In books and in the internet I found a great deal on information about the history of photgraphy and its technical development. However, the main chapters in my paper will be "The role of photography in western society" and "Photography and the advertise business". Since I haven't found much on that, I'm now asking professional photographers and people working in the ad. business for their opinions on the following:
-what role does photography play today (21st century) in western society?
-how has our view of the world changed since photography became popular?
-how does photgraphy impact the media (journalism, newspaper, TV etc.)?
-does the improving technique of digital imagery mean that traditional photography will soon be history?
-what do you personally look for when taking a picture? / what is it that makes an image great / what is your motivation to take pictures or to work with them?
-how have advertisments changed since photography emerged, what more is there to do by having the aibility to work with an image?
-what changed for the ad and design business when digital photography emerged?
-the pionneers of photography had the dream to create a media to reflect an image of the world as exact and real as possible, but during the last decades one of the big attractions has been to change and manipulate reality through a photograph...what do you think about that?
It would be very helpful for me if you could take some time and answer/give your opinion on some of the questions/topics listed above.
Thank you!
