Need advise... just bought a huricane re 198 deck boat. Dry weight is 2800 pounds, length is 18' 10", fibergl type 5 hull, drag is 10". Q: not sure which trolling motor to mount to the front. Have to use a quick release mount, for the front is also used as a diving platform for the kids. We fish in the Colorado river, in the narrows, and the water gets moving pretty good. Would love to go with a 12 volt system, perhaps 55lbs of thrust. Can't get a straight answer from manf on reccomended thrust but they do suggest 24 volt. Any advise? Boat is on line under hurican boats. I like the powerdrive model by minkota, looks like a small mounting area, and that is very important for this boat. The actual fishing platform is very small. Please advise.
