: What is the symbolic significance of the bridge?
The significance of the bridge is the presence of a challenge, or a break from the modern world. Robert Jordan concentrates through out the novel to destroy the bridge, and the constraint the structure has on him makes him disagree to Pablo's ideas that he should not bother the bridge. Let's just put it in easy terms. The bridge is our dreams, and Robert Jordan never gives up his dream even through death. We should learn from the bridge and incorporate it into our lives as struggling writers.
