: : I've got a book written by Karl Baedeker called "Baedekers GENERALGOUVERNMENT". It's written in German and it's got a published date of 1943 on the 3rd page. It also has a few fold out maps attached to it. It appears to be an original. It has something to do with the German occupation of Poland during WW2. It's about 260 pages long. The dimensions are about 6" x 4". It's red in color with the title printed in gold lettering on the front and on the binding. It also has an interesting ribbon book marker attached, sort of like in a Bible. If anyone knows anything about this please send me a message with whatever info you may be able to share. Thank you for your kindness. Ken Williams.
: Hi, I'm German and quite amused by your wondering about a Baedecker.
: You got nothing else than a book for tourists of Poland (Generalgouvernement was just the name of the occupied Poland 39-44).
: Baedecker made books for tourists from the end of the 19th century and the company lives on until now.
: They even retained the red outlook of the books.
Hi, I'm the daughter of a British soldier who was in the Polish corridor as a prisioner from 1940-44 and would be interested in a copy of the map in the region of Marienburg (Malbork), then East Prussia. I am curious as to the German names/Polish names for all the towns and villages. Appreciate any help yu can give. Thanks, Alice
