There is no 1 easy answer as to why the NViet defeated the independent & soverign nation south of them. But, the primary cause was beacuse the US government AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS failed to perform their duties in a logical manner. Politicians dictated to the military what could & would not be done. This included the infamous TX president LBJ having lunch & determining what targets should be bombed. Those of military significance but with political consequences were deemed restricted targets. At any time we could have won by bombing the dike around Hanoi & leaving it in 2 to 3 feet deep of water. The liberal communist demigods (Jane Fonda & Sen. Mansfield) insured the military could not prosecute the war in a winnable manner. Remember, the US military was not defeated, it was the liberal political machine in the US that preordained the outcome.

: We know US not win and Vietcong not lose.
: US had everything morden weapons, intelligent and money but not target. Vietcong had limit food, poor weapons but clear target.
