: 1. The new versions and the Authorized Version, also known as the King James Version, do not say the same things. (The "new versions" include the NKJV and the New Scofield Reference Bible.) : a. James 3:17 "with whom there is no variableness, : neither shadow of turning." : b. Mal. 3:6 "For I am the LORD, I change not..." We who know God know that neither he himself nor his word will ever change. : c. The supporters of the new versions claim that the difference is due to a difference in manu-scripts, part of which is true. The new versions depart from any mcript on several occasions. : 1) They claim that the mcripts, from which the new versions were, for the most part, trans-lated are "better" because they are older. They do not understand God and his power to preserve his word, even through finite human beings, the scribes. : 2) Consider the primary areas from which the two groups of mcripts originated: a) Alexandria, EGYPT, and b) Byzantium, where you will find places such as Antioch. : 3) Could evil have been at work to overturn God's word when the original mcripts were first written? Evil was present in the Garden of Eden. : 2. The translation process. : a. The work of the A.V. translators (who included devout and dynamic preachers) was subject to many : methodical reviews by the translators within each group, those in other translation groups, and lay pastors in the realm. : b. The new version committees operated in secrecy and were often controlled by one to three power-ful men. : 3. For whom did God provide his word? : a. God did not give his word only to Americans, British, Germans, etc., who might have access to commentaries, concordances, lexicons, etc., and/ or those educated in colleges and universities. (This was a humbling fact to me.) : b. God gave his word to ALL peoples of the world; and it is written in such a plain and simple way that it can actually be used as a teaching tool (as discovered by one believer); i.e., the vocabulary is very simple in Genesis and becomes progressively more difficult toward Revelation. It has been shown (and I have discovered for my-self) that God even defines the words he uses; e.g., "Sarah was barren; she had no child." (While the vocabulary is simple, the book of Genesis contains profound truths.) : 4. A key word in the new versions: COPYRIGHT : a. I Tim. 6:10 (A.V.) says: "For the love of money is the root of all evil..." (The new versions say something very different by changing just a few words.) Look at the organizations that are profiting from ssales of the new versions. Observe the Madison Avenue-type of packaging and advertising. : b. In order to comply with the Derivative Copy-right Law, the new versions had to use a substan-tial amount of words, which were different from the A.V. Since the A.V., as stated above, had already used the simple words, the new versions often had to insert difficult words in their places. : c. Beware: With each new copyright, there are new and surprising changes. All of this is preparing the word for the antichrist, which God foretold as far back as Daniel.
