I believe it to be the word of people who heard, or at least thought they heard God. That is, God did not write it directly, but here and there you catch love, good, and decency shining through the muck that humans have piled on. If anything is still worth following, it's that, and it's in everybody. Encourage it, if there is a God, that's religion, if there isn't, it's unusually philosphical humanism.
