"Love God with all your heart, with all you soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
THE PUNISHMENT FOR BREAKING THESE COMMANDMENTS IS BREAKING THESE COMMANDMENTS. This is God's Law or the Word. God gave us the law so we might live for ever, happy and strong, with peace. When we turn from it, "sin", we harm ourselves. In short, the punishment is the crime.
No one has a right to condemn or judge or punish another. Everybody has already paid. We only have a right and duty to protect. Altogether this simple set of statements is the basis for all wisdom regarding life:-)
Good is loving life more than things. Evil is loving things more than life.
Any religion or philosophy that does not support the above statements is bogus and turned toward darkness. However the words of the commandments require some definition. It's taken a lifetime to figure the definitions, plus the "the punishments the crime" thing. I hope these definitions serve.
GOD is all life, everywhere. People really can't see the forest for the trees. We should pray to that part of life that is the Creator when we need help and wisdom. But when we worship, we should worship and serve the child who lives in poverty.
A NEIGHBOR is any member of any species that has at least one member capable of obeying the two commandments. This covers all human beings, a probably dolphins too Maybe elephants. For the sake of simplicity I just call everybody human. No one is above human except God.
The verb LOVE in this instance means to want the best for someone, to want them to do well physically, but more importantly spiritually. And if possible, to do things to help someone be well or happy, especially spiritually. The best example of this is God. And of course the best thing you can do for somebody is to teach about the word.
What is a soul? All human souls are equal, unique, beautiful and incomparable. We all interact with our environment through a heredity and environment interface (it's a little (very little) like "The Matrix"). We each create and shape our souls every day by the decisions we make. Depending on the interface, a soul could be a garbage man or a Supreme Court Justice. The decisions that effect their souls aren't much different, although the garbage men seem to be doing better these days (personal opinion:).
There is no overt sign of God on earth for a reason. This is a teaching place. This world is here so we can learn to commit to these simple rules and be happy. Neither science and psychology or any of human kinds other tools will be able to measure the soul and therefore discern a sign of God unless she allows it.
The whole reason for this effort is because of the human soul. God can't change it from the inside without destroying us. We have to change ourselves. God can give us a new body anytime, but she cannot give us a new soul. The consequence for a soul not learning God's Law is more terrible than anything that can happen to our bodies on earth.
A soul that does not love the living becomes a soul that loves things (power, money, ...). A soul lives forever, but a soul that loves things more that life lives isolated, alone in a world without love of life. I have seen this place. I would not wish it on anyone in the world ever.
The true battle on earth is not for land or power; it is for our souls. And God takes this very seriously. She is calling everyone home, human or fallen angel (also human). The road out of hell can be walked. It is called the Word.
Step One: Love yourself because your a human being, not because of anything you did or didn't do and despite of anything you did or didn't do. If you do this, you, by default, wind up loving every human being.
Step Two: Love all life with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength.
Step Three: If you screw up, remember, you've already paid.
Step Four: Don't let the world tear you apart.
I don't believe in the Word because I believe in God. I believe in God because I believe in the Word, more than gravity, etc.
Love,
