When at school and taught about slavery in the US, I distinctly remember seeing some footage of what the film claimed were slaves working in fields. The fact that this was a moving film suggests that it came from the twentieth century.
I'm now a teacher myself and have a strong feeling that this would interest my cles.
Does anyone out there happen to be able to confirm that this film exists, or that slavery did continue in some isolated places, into the twentieth century?
I'd just like to add that any answers along the lines of 'we are all enslaved by capitalism', etc., are not really what I'm after at this point!
Thanks,
AWW
