There is actually one other theory as to Aphrodite's birth, which is that an egg fell from a cloud into a river, was pushed to shore by fish and hatched by doves, and Aphrodite hatched from that egg. Personally, I don't find any of the theories any more or less believable than any others, because I think they are all just myths, not really real.
