I am studying Pride & Prejudice for A210 OU Study Course. I have been as ked the following question regarding the Page on page 333-334 of the Oxford World Clics Edition of this novel.
This page begins "Good Gracious" and ends "than the first vehemence of her disapprobation.
The question I have been asked to answer is as follows:-
a) How do Jane Austin's techniques of 'showing' and 'telling' work at this point in the novel? (800 words)
b) How does this page relate to the themes of the novel as a whole? (400 words)
If any body could provide me with a few pointers as to how to start the answer to these questions I would be very grateful.
I have read the novel, and as the first of Jane Austins novels that I have read, have been totally captivated. However i do not think I have the correct amount of knowledge to answer these questions without a little human guidance.
Kind regards, Nicola Toner
