: Regards,
: I'm just wondering if we are to ume that the speaker at the opening of the Iliad is Dionysus. I am new to the study of Greek tragedy and have been reading Nietzsche's _Birth of Tragedy_. The impression that I get from him is that Dionysus is the speaker (in some form). It was also from Nietzsche's book that I learned of the Theban tradition that Dionysus was "twice-born" (having been killed at Hera's instigation by the Titans). This was only confirmed to me just now online at
: http://www.csun.edu/~hcfll004/dionysos.html
: If you have any information on this (especially a reference), I would much appreciate it. My e-mail is parousia_occ@yahoo.com. Please, send any responses there.
