How do yo uknow that this person is dying though? I thought it was more about a 'traveller' as the poem states. Someone came through and ped on, leaving no 'footprints' on anyone else. He was forgotten, just another face in the crowd. That could just be me, but I don't believe this person died. I think he simply left.

: this poem is about a person dying. the traveler comes to the shore and is in a hurry to get to the town. then the little waves erase his footprints and he never returns to the shore. the waves washing away the foot prints symbolizes his death, that he was vanished, like his footprints. it also shows that life continues on after this man left. the horse guy keeps on with his work, and the world still spins round and round even though this person has ped.
