: : I'm trying to find information that would tell me which of the tales in "The Marriage Debate" group would most closely reflect Chaucer's own view. This is not a homework ignment; I am working on a research project and I cannot find any real source that tells me what his personal view was. Thanks for any help! :)
: I think that Chaucer us so scathing and richly ironic in the Wife of Bath's tale and the Merchant's Tale that it is obvious he despises this type of attitude to Marriage. Therefore the Franklin's Tale seems a more pertinent view of Marriage through Chaucer's eyes? It is always difficult to pin down the real Chaucer though! Good luck
