They do not portray the gospel of Jesus Christ accurately. The first chapter of my book, GOD'S WRATH on Left Behind, is called The Anti-Christian gospel of Left Behind.
The storyline of the Left Behind series portrays Christian characters "sinning to survive" during the tribulation. This is the opposite of the patience of the saints described in the Bible and is the opposite of Bible Christianity.
Salvation is by the grace of God, but not the phony grace depicted in the Left Behind series where the characters continue in sin while leading the reader to think the broad way is the Christian way.
