I have been searching forever for this video (I used to own it) and when you said it would be out on DVD I got excited - but I can't find a StarMaker web site anywhere or a place to buy it in DVD!
: I have this video. It is not a Disney video, it is by a company named StarMaker and if you wish to buy it they now have it on DVD. My copy is a little messed up so I am going to be purchasing the DVD very soon. The mermaid's name is either Marina or Maria, I think it sounds more like Marina but on the back of the video they say "Maria" might be a typo since it sounds so much like Marina. The year on the video is 1979, one year before I was born.

: : : : Can anyone help me find a little mermaid video, byt Hans Christian Anderson, dated around 1975?
: : : : Please email me if you have a copy of it or know who can help me trace it
: : : The video is definately based on the Hans Christian Anderson version, but i'm not sure who made the video. Someone told me that it might be the first Disney version. The mermaid had a name that was not Ariel (like the new Disney version) but I can't remember what it is. She was blond, the video was in colour. The video was avaiable when I was growing up, so i'm quessing anytime between 1975 and 1985.
: : : Theres got to be someone who knows the video. I feel like i'm going mad !
: : The version you all are talking about was released in 1979 by StarMaker. it was released 10 years before the disney version was. I have a copy of it (which iv had since i was a kid) and i do not plan to ever sell it. I absolutly love it.
