I am in a Childrens literature cl. I need to do a pro vs. con research paper. While reading the chapter on poetry I fell in love with it. I see most literary poems are of the past. More non-sensical or silly is of the present. Any opinions of why this is so? How could we bring poetry back to children again? I came across "Forgiveness" by A.A. Milne. I had sung the song by Melanie in the 70's and never knew who wrote it. I had been reading from the "Now we are six" book and my kids were not paying any attention. I came to the "beetle" poem and broke into song. That caught their attention and they started asking questions. Anyway, any help for a thesis statement would be great.
