Hi!
As you have found out by now, the order in which the chronicles were written is not the order in which they occur. The chronological order is:
1) The Magician's Nephew
2) The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
3) The Horse and His Boy (actually the events in this book happen DURING the time covered in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)
4) Prince Caspian
5) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
6) The Silver Chair
7) The Last Battle
When my son is old enough, I will probably read the books to him in this order.
Enjoy!
