I used Kiplinger Tax Cut for my 1998 and '99 returns. I found out recently (in the form of a bill from the state IRS) that a mistake was made. The state taxes withheld from my paycheck were deducted from my federal tax return, but not added back to my state return, which would increase my taxable income on my state return. This still makes me liable for the additional tax, BUT, my question is, didn't Kiplinger guarantee the accuracy, and offer to pay any penalties and interest on such a mistake? (I threw out my original install CD, so I can't check on this myself.)
