Hi. I am hoping someone here can help! I am taking part in an very difficult quiz and one of the questions is: 'In which popular novel does the money lender Shadrack Newbold appear?' I have racked my brain and feel v silly being an English graduate and all, but I have no idea. If anyone could help that would be great! Many thanks in advance! |

Shadrack Newbold is a goldsmith in Kathleen Windsor's Forever Amber. The book was written sometime in the early forties. Windsor wrote only one other book Wanderers Eastward, Wanderers West, but in its day, Amber was notorius for its steamy sex scenes. Today it could be read by children under 12. It was made into a glossy movie with Linda Darnell and Cornell Wilde. |
